Thursday 14 August

A bit of a disappointing jump we had yesterday.
Round 7 was our horror jump from this meet, we expected so much more, but it turned out otherwise.
The Yuan out of the door, was already keyed before we could go on our normal pace, from than on, we had to chase our own tale!
The judges weren't mild, Score: 25!
France and USA scored a 28, that means that the French are a head of us with 2 points.
The Russians scored 27 and are now 3 points behind the 3th place!
Today we will try to for that tied 2nd place, 14-20-21 is the easiest jump, but if you had that silver medal in your hand, it's hard to see it slip away!
Again we will try our f*cking best to retrieve what is ours!

It's chilly today, but good skydive weather,
we are ready for the jump, we just creeped and still have to go for our run and stretch!
Give us all your support, WE NEED IT!
Come on BELGIUM

-----------

The World Championship 2008 France is over, Belgium's first medal is in.
We took home the bronze!
Srores of the last round
USA: 15
France: 18
Belgium: 17

Airspeed World Champion, France 2nd and Gold medal in 8-way and Belgium 3th!
Thx for all the support, pricegiving awards are set at 14h.

GREETS from the team, Dave out ....

Wednesday 13 August

Very windy here in Maubeuge, they started around 10h, but after 3-4 loads, the FAI controller, handed out a warning to the meet director because of the critical conditions that he sended those airplanes!
It's still over 22 knots/hour wind.
There was also a team captain's meeting, they discussed about certain points:
- If it stays bad, the next 2 jumps will turn in to semi-finals and finals for Round 7 and 8!

But for now, we are still waiting, and we are getting tired!

Tuesday 12 August

Ok, I might have a solution for the updates.
Koen from the Dutch 4-way is able to upload files, so what I can do, is put everything on his MAC and transfer it to our website.
Since it's bad weather anyway, rain and low clouds, we are on a weather hold and I have more time than I want!

But the results are in our advantage now, since we got an excellent day 2!
On the first competition day, we got stuck on 27 points and our opponents scored 28 or more!
We went back home on the end of the day with a 'not-so-good' feeling!
Round 2 was better for us yesterday, since we made the single high score with an outstanding 33.
This time we came back on the 2nd place!
Round 3 and 4 we tied with France.
The results after 4 rounds:
USA: 102
Belgium: 100
France: 98
Russia: 96

Everything is still very close, so it's not done yet, but, Round 5 is back in our favor, with the E-3-9 sequence!
But like I said, we are on a weather hold, so .... wait wait wait.

-----------

The team is back at the hotel, the wind is picking up and the clouds are low!
As you noticed, the site is back online, thx to Koen!
What happened was, the internet connection was blocked for uploading files, unless you got a special pass!
Well, I managed to get one due to some good contacts ;-)
Anyway, I have to thank the Maubeuge Director!

-----------

Well, we are back on the dz, but the wind gusts are too high!
So we are on a standby till 14h.
It's now 13.40h and if I look outside, there is still a lot of wind.

-----------

We finally started jumping again, with as first Round, the E-3-19.
We creeped and prepared it so good, that we almost choked!
But luckily we got away with it, thx to the judges!
They watched the jump 4 times and even 'freeze-framed' a certain point.
We sold it, and got away with it.
The Russians were strong, but busted 2 points 28
The US team came up with 29
France and we tied again with 27 points.

We were ready for Round 6 but, the weather conditions decided otherwise, clouds and wind!

Exciting? If you could imagine!!!

Keep it up, we need your support on the guest book! We need it!

-----------

Round 6 has been jumped and scored.
We've lost the Russian team, they scored 20.
We also gain a point on Airspeed but we lost a point at the French team!
Airspeed: 21
Belgium: 22
France: 23
Russia: 20

In my opinion, Russia fell of the podium, although, you never know with those guys, and the medals can be divided under USA, Belgium and France.
In which sequence? Belgium is still going for that GOLD medal, that's for sure!

The weather forecast for tomorrow, more wind than today, cold temperatures, and rain.
It's not that big of a difference as today, but today they jumped, even sometimes on the edge.
We are expected to be on the dz at 7.45h, but I think we will arrive at 8h!
If it stays bad, than there is a big chance we come back to our hotel, to rest instead of getting exhausted of doing nothing!

It's already late, so, sleep tight, and stay tuned for another extremely, nervously and hard-core competition day

Keep up the support, greets from the team for all of our readers

Saturday 9 August

Today's first part of the World Championship, the practice jump!
Their were 2 choices;
21-22-10 or M-15-F-B
a slow or a fast one.
We chose the fast one. The HayaBusa style ;-)
Pretty easy dive, and we really wanted to show it to the judges, so that it would be scored and hanged out.
Well, France - Russia and USA didn't let their jump get judged, that means that we scored the highest score on the practice round, when you consider that Canada scored 29 and Norway 30 and HayaBusa Defence 32!
The jump was ok and the exit was a star!
Time to wait for the draw to be given.
In the meanwhile even Bruno (our cameraman 2001-2006) even stopped by to say hello!

Around 16h it finally came out.
The 11 most important jumps of the year.

When we got the draw, we discussed a little bit with Sven, our Head of Delegation, if it was possible to skip the opening ceremony so that we could prepare our jumps at our hotel! Off course no problem at all!

Once arrived at the hotel, we had to wait for Joey!
We rolled our jumps inside the hall, the 6 chairs and the big table on the side, with our feet's against the piano :-)

1. B 17 7
2. H N 13 A
3. 10 J C 6
4. 18 12 2
5. E 3 9
6. 19 O 4
7. D 5 16
8. 14 20 21
9. Q 8 15
10. K 11 22

After engineering these jumps, we all ate hear in the restaurant, and now we are all in our room, visualizing the jumps, before falling a sleep!
It's 21h30 so I'm going to finish today as well.
Hopefully till tomorrow
Keep up the support on our guest book!

Who are we? HayaBusa - What are we? The fastest!

Friday 8 August

We just had breakfast, and we are on our way to the drop zone, so that I can put the updates online.
The weather isn't so good, gray and low clouds.

Well, I've got problems with the server here in Maubeuge, for the moment it's hard to get the updates online!
I've this stays like this, I might make the updates through the guest book!

Sven, our former teammate and head of the Belgian Delegation will make updates as well on his blog.
As soon if I can find out the URL I will put that one online as well!

Finally I could find internet, at the city center of Mons!
It's time to eat mussels ;-p
-----------
mmmm, they were great!

We all walked a little bit further and ate an ice cream. After this we went back to our hotel, 20 min's of driving.
The weather is again not so impressive, heavy rains now and 10min later you see the sun and then it's blue sky. 1h later again rain.
After the 19h news, we went again for a 40min run.
In the way back to the hotel, we crossed Roy walking around the block.

Planning tomorrow:
- 8.45h - 9h breakfast
- 9.30h leave to the drop zone
- 10h manifest for 1 or 2 jumps + the official training jump
- 15h end of jumping, back to the hotel, preparing for the opening ceremony
- 18h trip to Maubeuge center for the opening ceremony
- 19h30 start ceremony
- 22h end of ceremony

somewhere in between the draw should have been given, and when we should be able to prepare our competition jumps, is still a big question mark!

For now, it's almost 22h, sleepwell

Thursday 7 August

The deal between So, Shorty and myself was to get up around 7.30h and go out for a 40-45min run, but the weather conditions weren't in our advantage!
Around 7h it started to rain lightly, and 10min later we already could hear the thunder in the distance!
So text-messaged: It's raining really good, let's wait until it gets dry!
A few minutes later, their was a thunder flash, the 'Flash-to-Bang' was so short what meant that the strike was very nearby!
Even the electricity felt away in our hotel for almost an hour! It was better to close our eyes for another hour!

Again breakfast at 9h.
Afterwards we stayed at the dining table until almost 12h.
A little later Luc, Joey and Lena left to the monastery of Orvall!

I watched the young Belgian Olympic football team on television!.

After the game we wanted to go play bowling in Maubeuge.
Roy, Shorty, Danny, So and me took the car an drove off to the city center. No bowling area! Damn!
Now we are all back in our room, watching, reading, eating,... most of all, relaxing.

At 18h we finally left for the 35min run.

And right after, when we arrived at the hotel, it started to rain again, very hard, with again some thunder flashes.

The whole team besides Danny went out to eat in a restaurant in Beaumont, nearly over the Belgium border.
The plan for tomorrow, relax, go to the drop zone for the planning on Saturday, a little run, hopefully we can watch the Olympic Games on the tv, ...

Wednesday 6 August

Yesterday evening we arrived at our hotel! 3-4 km of the Belgian border!
A nice and calm atmosphere around the hotel! Just perfect to get ready to perform at the greatest show this year!
This morning So ,Shorty and myself went for a 30-35min run! At 9 o'clock we met for breakfast with the rest of the group!
Joey, Lena and Luc went to the club after breakfast and Roy, Danny, So, Shorty and me went to the mall, to get some food and drinks!

The plan was to go to the drop zone; and do a couple jumps! And see where we could put our tent in the best possible way!
"A tent"? This tent is mainly used for our visualization between jumps!
Because Belgium is represented by 2 '4-way teams' (male and female) and 1 '8-way team' the team tent would be crowded and it would be hard for us to visualize our next jump!
That's why we asked a private tent from our AAD sponsor Cypres, who arrived today as well!

We arrived around 10h45!
And the most teams are already 'surplace'!
Airspeed, 4 and 8-France, Sky Panthers, Arcteryx, Knightrax, .....

We've made 4 jumps; 4 'easy does it'-'feel good' jumps!
More important was,
- Can we hear the speaker for our boarding calls
- Where can we creep
- Where is the mock-up
- What is the procedure to board the plane
- How does the dz look like out of the air
- Landing area
- Packing area
- ....

Lot's of questions, but we know all the answers!
Our jumps were good, but were less important!
It was good weather, but the forecast for the next couple of days isn't so good!

At 17h we drove back to our hotel, took a shower and went eating at the Chinese!
Today was Luc's 46th birthday!

Tomorrow; no jumping!
What else? Is up to the coach!

Dave...

Sunday 3 August

On Tuesday 5th of August, HayaBusa Defence will travel to Maubeuge, for the next World Championship Skydive!
Only 6 more days to go, the competition will start on Saturday, but we want to leave earlier to get used at the environment and our accommodation (we rented a gîte, nearby the club)!
Joey will land in Brussels on Tuesday as well!

Since our last training camp in Empuriabrava, we feel ultra-confident!
At one of the last NSL draws, we scored an 24,1 point average on 10 rounds, with some amazing block times!
Do we feel ready? The Porter is our friend ;-)

In July alone we did 120 training jumps; in total this year we come on almost 630-640 training jumps!

If Maubeuge comes up with a good internet connection, I will daily (and jump after jump if possible) come up with an update of the team and the jumps!
Follow the live scores and videos from every team at: SKYLEAGUE

As always; leave your comments and cheers at our guestbook, were we can read it from time to time! It's a real booster for our result!
If you can, support your favourite team at the dropzone in Maubeuge (Aérodrome de La Salmagne - 59600 VIEUX RENG - FRANCE)

Pricegiving is on 14th of August at 15h!

Here an update of the latest training camp in June!

Joey Jones was with us for a couple of days in Empuriabrava!
We worked together very hard on the mental and physical aspect!
Mentally for the meet preparation that we will going to need on the World Meet, and physical for the strength and speed during the jumps and the rest of the days!

There are only 52 days left for the next "Skydiving World Championship 2008 at Maubeuge, France"
And the team is going good; lot's of confidence, good team atmosphere, and good results!
Our random's and transitions 'after the block' speed is still on the slow side, but in July, we will work on bringing the pieces together!
Exits, buildings, block techniques, random speed,... We will go for a medal!

1-14 and 25-31 July we will be back in Spain for our final camps before the World Meet;

-Because of the strike's in Brussels our photo shoot was cancelled; next appointment next week probably at the KMS, Brussels

-Next weekend the Belgian Nationals are being held in Zwartberg (near Genk) out of the left-hand door from the Cessna Caravan!
It's a long while ago since our last jump out of a Caravan but we will try our best for another good and fast result!
It will be another international competition where draws and scores will put together on the NSL-site!
You can still come over and support your favorite national team at Zwartberg!

-Next Monday 23 (Roy and Luc) and on Sunday 29th of June (Dave and Andy); you can find us on the open-door of the military base at Leopoldsburg!

That's about it for the this and next week!
Dave out...

2007 (before site-crash)

Wednesday 22 August

We are back from training camp at Brienne, bad weather resulted in zero jumps.
We are preparing ourselfs for our Nationals at Moorsele.
The plans are to compete in 4 and 8-way.

I still have to thank everyone for their support at the World Cup.
It helped us a lot, to see the messages coming in on our guestbook and emails.

We will now start our training for the next Military World Championship at India in October.

Saturday 11 August

Goodmorning;
Today at 10h, we will have pricegiving ceremonie.
There is at this moment an FS meeting going on with the judges.

The program for today got a little bit changed.
After pricegiving, there should have been a great farewell banket this evening at the dropzone with the closing ceremonie;
but, because there isn't an autorisation by the city of Stupino, they wanted to give it at the hotel were we stayed during our visit.
The hotel dicided to denie this willing! Reason, in the beginning, during and a few days ago, some competitors wrecked a door, trewed with knifes and forks,
were drunk and had to be trowed out by the police,... and so on, and the hotel was very opset with this, so the logical decision makes:
No closing ceremonie, but intstead: a lot of free beer.

Yesterday we made the trip to Moscow.
We were ready on the busses at 8h, we left the hotel at 9h and arrived in Moscow at the Red Square at 12 o'clock.
First thing we asked we stepping on the bus: where can we find a Mc Donalds? hahaha
We crossed the Red Square and on the other side of the Kremlin there he was. It was crowded with skydivers, we weren't the only ones.
We had to be back on the busses at 17h.
The weather was beautiful, and so was also the rest of Moskow, nice city! And they have all the luxuery as the rest of the world.
Gucci, Calvin Klein, Lamborghini, Bentley, Rolex, ... you name it!

At 17h everybody was present at the bus.
The busses left around 17.30, but we came in a traffic jam.
It was a terrible ride back, traffic, railways, red lights, smoking brakes, toilets breaks.
At 21.45h we finally arrived to get some food.
Normal traject Stupino-Moscow is 1h20; yesterday we did +4h

At the end we were so tired of the night before in the disco, that we went to bed early. 22h40 allready!
And then at 3h in the night, there was loud nocking on the door;
Shorty opened and they stormed inside. Com'on get up; let's go dancing; drinking, having fun... get out of bed. I didn't knew what was going on, I was still sleepy!
They were pulling on the sleeves, yelled, pulling on my arm, wanted to give booze,... that was hard :-)
Luckily they left, but there was still a lot of noice on the hall in the hotel and in the park. Hard to fall back a sleep.

Well it's now 9.10h
I'am going to find out where everybody else is and try to pick somethings from the meeting.
I'm not sure if I can update the website before going home to Belgium.
Our flight back is on sunday the 12th, and we leave the airport Domododevo at 15.35h local time.
Time of arrival at Zaventem, Brussels would be 18h. It's an Brussels Airline flight.
Maybe we can find you there.

Anyway... hope you enjoyed our competition here in Russia,
for us it was fun and turned in to a real thriller with a happy end.

If I have better connection I will load on some pics from here.
Thank you for your support on our guestbook, for the different mails and text messages we recieved, it helped us a lot!

Thursday 9 August

*update*

The Hoegaarden is going to my head ;-)

*update*

After being back from lunch.
These are the final scores for us.
On 11 Rounds 252 points, average after 10 Rounds : 23.0 points
We are now on the DZ, enjoying a good Hoegaarden. (not too much, and nothing stronger; remember 2 years ago)
Sitting in the sun, relaxing, watching the 8-way teams to land.
In 8-way, France is too far a head to make it in interesting meet. But that's not their fault off course, it's because of the 2000-3000 training jumps they have together.

--------------------------------
A HISTORICAL DAY for the BELGIUM Skydive Community.
HayaBusa Defence WON the WORLD CUP and EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2007

WAAAUW what a feeling.

This morning:
6.00h, couldn't sleep anymore, heartbeat over 130.
At breakfast; couldn't eat my sandwish; I had no taste and wasn't hungry.
In the bus we were all very concentrated, with our "pump up" music in our ears.

First thing at the dropzone, getting our gear;
Checking our parachute, stretched after the warming up and then started creeping.
At 09.30h we were in the first plane together with France and a British 8-way team.

"Open door" heartbeat: 140
The French jumped out first, then it was up to us.
Ok, relax, move to the door, bring the heartbeat back to 110. (my normal beat is 80 in the door)

"Go"
First pages were very good, after the 3 sequence, suddenly our Opal opened just before starting the block, that putted us in a situation, that we had to wait
pick up the grip, and then start the misshaped block all over again.
This brought up disctraction for my, from the arrival of the Opal, I had to build the Bow but instead I already had the grips for the Unipod.
Shit, get me back in place Shorty, Ok, total separation and build the Bow and then the Unipod, pffff, this was a bad feeling, but ok keep on going hard.
We picked our speed back up, and continuat untill the end.
But because all the other jumps were so very close with the French, we thaught it was over and out. That was the first feeling we had when we landed.

To make it even more exciting, they had a bad feeling as well, they had a brainlock somewhere in their dive (I didn't find that very hard to believe with the 18 in B-slot)
So ok, everything was back to normal and the LIVE judging is the only place to find out who would win this event.

The hangar was crowded;
We didn't knew the scores of them, and vica versa.

First team on the screen:
HayaBusa Defence

"GO"
timer is running 35"
Everything very clean and in the beginning we had a very good and fast performance.
But then, it started,
The block Opal, indeed, the grip opened, but got closed back again, yes, finish of the block, shit my brainlock, but; the Bow and Unipod were builded correctly.
Now keep on going till the end.
End of the block zircon was clearly in.

Review by the judges
And another one
and a 4th one, pffffff, this is taking toooooo long.
End score 22; clearly marked on the screen; YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSs
Ooh man, this is kicking...

Ok, now the French

"GO"
Smooth out the door, very nice buildings of the randoms, some long distances in the B-slot 18's, and an arrival of the Opal was tricky as well.
But, at the freeze frame, their last formation, didn't seem to be inside, to make their 22'nd point.

Review by the judges; It still isn't inside
Another review; it's a only few centimeters from their grip.

And their it was
Final score 21

JOEHOEEEEEEE
WE WON, WE WON, WE WON
We scored one point more than French over 11rounds.

that's it for now,
We have a television interview for FOX-TV to make now ;-)

Wednesday 8 August

Quick report, because my head is not so very good anymore.
What happend?
Starting from this morning, Round7 we came out tied on every single round untill Round10.
Very good scores, very well jumped.
Round10, 12-C-Q-10
At the hangar, everybody inside, they judged the jump of France.
Almost funnel exit, but still they scored a 20.
Now us;
Every body knew, if we have 20, we win, do we get a 19, then we have a jump-off tomorrow.

Our jump wasn't clean enough, after the 3th sequence we got some troubles with arrivel 12 to C to Q.
Pffff, after 35sec, first score on the board--> 20.
But the judges had to review the jump again, and again,....
Hard being us now, everybody is watching you, saying congrats, but it wasn't judged yet.

So after 5min (loooong minutes) the final decision

19 (we got one bust)

Shit, tied with France.
What a feeling, everybody was going over the limit, WHAT A SHOW, A REAL THRILLER,...
Yeah for them, but for us.... a little bit less.

They just announced,
Jump-off France - Belgium tomorrow 9.30h (7.30h Brussel)

What is positive news:

We have a NEW Belgian Record after 10 Rounds
23,0 Average

Now we will go creep the Round11 H-A-18-5

What do we need to win this WorldCup 2007 after all:
A tied score (and then the team with the highest score will win; and that's HayaBusa Defence) or be better and outscore them.

Sleep well, we will try to do that as well
Dave

Tuesday 7 August

*update*

They've started judging Round6, let me try to update the side immedeatly ;-)

Oh, for round6, we timed a 20 (i think, i cannot remember) but for sure their is a bust in.
Coming from an arrival of a 22 to the Adder, their we lost a point with a miskey. So 20 minus 1 makes 19.
French are hoping for an 22, let's find out.
Exciting hé, for us too

Scores for:
Russia BlackCat: 21
France: 21
Belgium: 21
Russia Skypanthers: 18

Euh,strange, the judges didn't see our bust + they scored again one extra point in the 35 sec.
Belgium HayaBusa Defence is now on the first place for this day.

Belgium Defence: 132
France: 131
Russia Skypanthers: 130
Russia BlackCats: 122

For sure we are pleased, but it doesn't feel right.
Well, this makes our fault in the first round back good.

We will now creep the 4 other jumps for tomorrow.
And then head off to the hotel.
Keep it up... C ya tomorrow
Dave
-----------------------------------------------
*update*

Hello, sorry for the updates from this morning, but there was too little time for an update.
We now jumped untill round6.

This morning we did Round3
For us it feld really good, very smood in the air, but we now that we are a little bit slower than any topteam. Our Bipoles turn outwards instead of in to the middle.
So the 21 on that score board was the highest we could reached for now.

Round 4 was only one hour later. Very technicall one, a 3 block jump, and normally always slow; but this time we were very suprissed about the 20 we scored.
We were hoping to have more than 17-18, so the 20 was very well done.
The other teams scored only 19 and that makes that we now have the highest score for Round4.
2 times out of 4 jumps; it's going great + this makes that HayaBusa is equal on the FIRST place together with France and Russia, but because we
made the highest score so far, The ranking is
Belgium 87
France 87
Russia 87
Russia BlackCat 82

Round5 was a very difficult one to engeneer!
K, exit but than instead of building the crank forwards, we builded it towards our inside center, that made our
sidebody donut easier to catch and more stabel to go immedeatly after impact key.
When we land we always time before giving our video to the judges, and we timed 23. After hearing what the French guys did, a 23, we were pleased to keep up with
their ritme, because the Skypanthers made a 26 on it.
But now,... they just timed Round5 and what seems;
BlackCat scored 19
The French scored 23 (like they timed)
But we scored a 24 (one more than we timed)
And the Skypanthers got a bust on the last formation within 35 sec and recieved a 25.

This makes the total on.

Russia: 112
Belgium: 111
France: 110
Russia BlackCat: 101

We are now waiting for Round 6.
Let's hope I can still give you the results

OOH yeah important!!!
The FUN flag is being stolen by FRANCE (40min after hanging out in the public)
Well done guys, and enjoy it for this year.
Next year the FUN flag will be at the World Championship 2008 at Maubeuge, France
---------------------------------------------------
Morning to y'all
New pics from here, Danny's site is for the moment not ready for any photo update. Internet connection is too slow, so I'm hoping this will work.

We hanged out the FUN flag, but on the tower of the Security. Everybody can sees it, but nobody can touch it. These security guys mean it when they say they will fight for it :-)
The flag is already hanging their for 10 min, multiple times they've been trying to convince the guards, they don't move. Excellent idea from HayaBusa Defence.

Weather here is blue sky and 25° at 9h in the morning.
First loads have just been called.

HayaBusa Defence scored the highest score on an World Cup on one single round for the first time in history.
Judges scored our jump and we got an 27.
Other teams:
France: 26
Russia Black Cat: 24
Russia Skypanthers: 23
Norway: 21

This makes the next classement for today.
France: 47
BELGIUM HayaBusa Defence: 46
Russia Skypanthers: 46
Russia BlackCat: 44
Norway: 42

We are very pleased about our jump, we ripped it hard and clean, and the 28th point was only moments away.
We gave Luc a very nice 45th Birthday Present ;-)

Before they judged our jump, we had the openingceremonie.
Lot's of Russian political's who speeched and they presented us a nice air show as well.
With 5 Mig 27's Sukhoi (Best display team in the world) 20 minutes in a row, incredible!!

For now, we creeped the next 5 jumps and I think we will head off to the hotel.

Jumps:

5. K - N - 2 - 5
6. L - G - 20 - 22
7. E - 19 - 17

The competition started for the 8way as well.
That's it for today

C ya tomorrow.... Dave

*update*

The judges scored the first round. We had some issues on that jump, but we came out with 19 points.
Other scores of the teams are:
Russia Skypanthers: 23
France Maubeuge: 21
Russia BlackCat: 20
Norway: 19
Germany Remscheid: 19
Russia TEC: 19

We did allready round 2 as well and we timed a 27. We are still waiting for the judges to come back from their lunch break.
Black Cat got scored; 24.
France are hoping on a 25-26. But these are all speculations, nothing official yet.

Within a few minutes the opening ceremonie of the competition will start.
And the 4-way is on a hold untill 16h,
We are not sure if we are allowed to jump the next Round or that the 8way competition will start.

----------------------------------------
Goodmorning, i'm updating this very fast because they are just calling of the first teams for Round 1.
Yesterday we got the draw. It's not a very fast one, but a very technical one.
First jump: 8-4-9 (Canadian T- Monopod - Cat Acc)
But not like everybody else, we will do this jump in A and B slot. We will make sure that we come out in a short 4 to go faster to the 9.
Hopefully this will make the first difference to begin the competition.
At this moment it's foggy, but jumpable.
Stress: off course; Ready: more than ever; but we want this thing to start.

Well, they have just put everybody on a low cloud weather hold, so we will wait a little longer.
By the way: HayaBusa Defence team nr 419

Draw for the first 4 jumps
1. 8 - 4 - 9
2. P - 7 - 13
3. 14 - F - 1
4. 21 - 3 - 6

See you later... Dave

Sunday 5 August

*update*
Well; we did 2 jumps today. One extra exit jump, and the official training jump as well.
The exit jump was a compressed 16 and the training jump was 13-J-10. We scored an 22 on it.
And at this moment the weather finally changed. Good weather after all, and they announce even better for the next days.
We will wait for the draw, prepare our jumps and head home to our hotel. At 21h they serve dinner.
-----------------------------------------

New day, we arrived at the dropzone at 8h local time. Just like yesterday; it's still raining. But yesterday we stayed in the hotel, playing volleyball.
We had to do something to kill the time :-)

Yesterday morning, when the busses left to the dz; we holded up our flag, together with the FUN flag.
Just like everybody remembered, the most historical flag of the FS community is being held by our team.
So, just before everybody left with the busses; the French and Italian delegation are speculating a lot how they can try to steal the flag.
They have one advantage; we sleep on the first floor of an 9floor high building :-)

But what they didn't had to do (and off course they did), is daring us to steal the French flag on the 8th floor hanging on their balcony with the doors closed!
So 20 min later, the French flag was in our possession as well. (did we climbed? who knows, it's dangerous, but possible hahahahahaha)

I made some pics and sended them to the cell phone of Julien Degen (4way member of the French team).

We knew that this will start a giant war, and yes, ... the hunt for the flags has begon
From now on; doors closed, key on the lock; no one on the hall without permission, no doors opened without password, the flag that travels around 2 rooms....
HayaBusa Defence

And in the mean time; there is a World Cup going on as well;
Tonight we will get the draw, and for tomorrow the forecast is 30° and blue sky. Let's hope so.
Will be back later on ....

Dave

Friday 3 August

Bad weather is keeping us on the ground for already 2 days.
Rain and very low clouds.
We are now on the DZ, but the busses will leave back again to the hotel at 14.30h
Nothing much to do!!

Greetzzzz Dave

Wednesday 1 August

First training day here at Stupino.
Today we did 6 training jumps and we have good weather (25°C and blue sky)
Because we haven't jumped the LET that much, we did some unusual exits like , D -1 - 13 - 14 - 17 - 22
The first impression; it's different than the Twin; the door is higher and is rounder towards the inside of the plane.
Not so very easy to stand in the door to head jam.
The jumps were OK, but we have to do more exits to come out stronger and faster on the first seconds of the hill.
That's something for tomorrow.

For the rest; everything is still the same like we left 2 years ago.
Same peoples; same tents; same hotel even the same food :-)

Keep it up... Dave (Moscow is +2h time difference with Brussels)

Monday 30 July

Tomorrow morning we will leave to Russia; for the World Cup and European Championship at Stupino, Russia.
We will leave Schaffen and head on to Brussels airport; our flight direction Moscow departs at 10h25.

The first days after arrival is ment to train some feel good jumps!
The competition will start on sunday 5th of August, with the official training jump.
At 19h we will recieve the draw for all the jumps.
Monday morning the show will start; There are 23 teams present, teams from France-Russia-Norway-Germany-UK-Denmark-...

The aircraft we will be using is a LET 410 (twin engine and left hand door), very similar to a well known Twin Otter.

Thursday 19 July

Total jumps for this training camp: 81
At the last day we managed to outscore our old personel random record of 45 into the NEW 53 pointer with the jump F-A-P-H-J.

Wednesday 18 July

Training camp at Brienne is almost over; we stop the training tomorrow at noon,
jumps so far: 65
We are planning do 20 more on 1,5 day.

After all the training camp is very succesfull, good weather and a lot of good jumps.
Next week we will be at Spa; to train the last week before leaving to the European Championship.
We will not compete at the French Nationals like we planned before.

Wednesday 4 July

HayaBusa Defence just finished a 2day camp at the windtunnel at Roosendaal together with the Swiss Army Team,
they have now their selection for the Militiary World Championship at India. We wish them all the luck and hope for the best.

Starting of today, an exciting Championship is beeing held at Stupino, Russia: The Anton Malevsky Memorial Meet.
4 Major teams are competing against each other. USA: Fastrax, Airspeed - RUSSIA: Black Cat, Skypanthers.
It's going to be a very strong competition, with at round 2 the jump E-Q-D-J-K
This is a possible World record breaker.

You can follow this competition at the NSL site

For HayaBusa Defence: We leave for a 3 week trainingcamp at Brienne-le-Chateau, France
We're hoping for 150 teamjumps; actually we are hoping for good weather to make those jumps.
And on July 31, we will go directly to the European and World Cup at Russia.
Keep it up and check this website reguraly for updates.

*update*

Just came in: the scores for Round 2 at the Malevsky Meet
Highest score Fastrax: 43
Airspeed: 41
Skypanthers: 40
Black Cat: 34

The official world record of 44 (by Extreme.RU and Black Cats last year) and unofficial by HayaBusa of 45 still stands in place
Once more this is an example of how outstanding we scored last year with the longer sequence : J-O-A-H-F

Tuesday 26 June

Video of round one of the Indoor World Challenge at Bedford, UK is online
IWC ROUND 1

Monday 25 June

Day after:
The BST meet at Schaffen is over, bad weather resulted in only 2 jumps; but because of the not completion of the entire round, only the first one will count.
We scored an 21 on round 13-19-K (we lost a point on a miskey going from the K to the 13) and a 23 on 17-9-4.
Too bad for the weather because this was a very good draw for us.
If we could jump it completely; a new highscore was defenitely possible.

What's next:
We have a tunnel training camp together with the Swiss Military Team at Indoor Roosendaal next week.
And the upcoming weekend there are some demo jumps, out of a DC-3 Dakota, planned at the Belgium Army Defence Days at Koksijde, Belgium.

Wednesday 13 June

Jumptotal so far: 47!
We had a suuuper long day yesterday.
Bad weather untill 15h and then we did 10 skydives until 21.50h! We had to stop because of the sunset :-)
Today it was immedeatly good weather, very warm and blue sky.
We finished at 17h after doing 12 jumps.
Tomorrow we compete against France and the espoirs.
The draw is allready known, and it's again not a fast one, but also not slow. We will see tomorrow what were we will end :-)

enjoy the nice pics of Danny
greets Dave...

Tuesday 12 June

Ok, yesterday we had a very long day.
It's was foggy in the morning, and after 12o'clock it was getting better, but the visibility for the pilot was not enough to start up his Twin.
Can you imagine, blue sky all around, but no go because of the pilot? Very frustrating.
So we started around 14h, but because there is a military unit here that want to jump the Twin otter as well, we cannot do back-to-back.
We did 11 jumps and finished at 19.30h!

We made improvements on the Block 1 (exit and terminal) - 3 (exit in mirror) - 4 (exit and terminal) - 8 (is getting acceptable) - 10 (exit and terminal) -
12 - 19 (exit and terminal) - 21 ( terminal)
All the others are good or need some more improvements.

On Wednesday and Thursday we will have a competition against France.
The national 4 way and the first espoirs team will compete against us. 5 jumps a day.
Not like we did last time in Empuriabrava when we did 10 rounds on one day.
The national team did 140 more jumps since last April, so I expect them to be a lot stronger!

Sunday 10 June

First day of the camp here in Brienne-Le-Chateau is over.
Doug explained us already a bunch of new things.
We did 12 jumps on a very sunny and warm day.
The club is nice, calm (no stress) and you can do easily a lot of jumps.
They start around 9.30h and they finish at sunset.
You can choose two different airplanes: a fast climbing Twin otter or a Porter.

Wednesday 6 June

Our deepest regrets go out to the friends and family of Bart Colpaert.

So sudden...
Fly forever and rest in peace.

The complete team will attend the funeral on Saturday before leaving to Brienne-le-Châtau.

Monday 14 May

Skyleague.com shows more information about our latest competition meet in Temploux of the Belgian Skydive Trophy.
For the moment we are still training at our home base Schaffen in Belgium, but because of the bad weather we are travelling to the
windtunnel at Skydive Roosendaal.

Monday 7 May

HayaBusa Defence's interview at Skyleague.com

Sunday 6 May

HayaBusa Defence won the first and second place at the Belgian Skydive Trophy at Temploux, Namur 2007 with an average of 20,2 out of 10 rounds.
The competition was been held out of a Pilatus Porter, the official aircraft of the World Championship 2008 at France.

HayaBusa Béta (with So on outside center-Jeroen on tail and Jim on point)
got coached and well instructed by former Spa-HayaBusa team member Sven.
The Béta team scored an outstanding 13.9 average on their first meet ever and they have the qualities to aim a lot higher.

Friday 27 April

We finished the competition after 10 rounds.
We did the last weekend draw of the NSL. (where Norway came out 20,6 after 6 Rounds)
Scores: France 22,0 - Belgium 20,9
We are very happy about our scores, but our jumps can be better.
We still have lot's of things to improve if we want to reach higher scores.

Tuesday 24 April

We did 12 jumps today!
Nice pics by Danny!

Monday 23 April

Hi, for the moment we are training at Empuriabrava, Spain!
We have 49 jumps in 4 days! In the beginning we had some bad weather issues, but we are training now 16 jumps a day!
The jumps are going very well, but we are still changing places; in exits with some of our blocks or changing some randoms!
We try to build the fastast random possible, so our contuinity plan is getting bigger!

The French 4way team is arriving this evening, and they asked for a draw (competition) between us two teams.
I think it's going to be cool to compete against them!
I will try to get the website up to date when the draw is over!

Sunday 8 April

What a good start we had this morning, when we arrived this morning and watched the scoreboard, our team was placed 4th instead of 5th!
That was for us a big surprise! We looked at the ranking and more specific to the scored points and the Russian Sky panthers only scored "8" on round 5!
That was really low, and absolutely not a score for them, so we thought that there was mistake with the scoreboard!
But after watching their jump, it wasn't. During their jump, they got sucked up by the huge propeller on top, and they came closer to the video, with the all known
consequences! We were in the same situation last year! And everybody was warn!

Anyway, that made us suddenly a top contender to win a money price!
Their were still 5 rounds to jump, and we had an advantage of 7 points!
It was close, and we were hoping the best to keep it that way!
Jump after jump, the Russians were coming closer upon us, but after round 8 we could feel that how hard they were going, we could compete with these guys!
Still, we were loosing 1-2 points each round, but we were cleaner, and smarter!
The Russians, they jumped a hell of a meet, and if you count every point they've lost in the actual score, than this team was top 3!
But they didn't, so... finally after round 10, and when the scores were settled, we still had a difference of 5 points, and the first meet of the year turned out great!

We came out on 4th place, with a 24,7 average and won 500£!
I'm hoping for some nice pics of the podium, that I will place on the web site if I would receive them!

Kurt Geabal of the NSL news took an 10min video interview with us, that he will place soon on his NSL site! Now that's a tip to watch ;-)
Roy was also interviewed about the Belgian Army Defence topsport situation by the Sport channel and by the Fox tv!

Plans for upcoming days and weeks!
Some of us have some coaching to give at indoor Roosendaal; Switserland and Skydive Center Spa, and next monday we will leave on a new trainingcamp at Empuria, Spain!

Thanks a lot for the support we had from you guys, all the text messages and emails came in very handy and were very motivating!

see you later ... Dave

Saterday 7 April

*update*

I just figured out, that the internet connection is too slow to put new files on this website!
I know Kurt can, but he's using a Lan cable, and he has time to do so!
Anyway, sorry, for the LIVE site updates!

I will tell you something about our first day here.
We had 4 training rounds of 1m15" each. We used it to train long blocks, like: 1, 8, 10, 19 and a 16 for the fallrate,
last year we floated up on this block and killed the lens of the competition video! This time we want to avoid that!

So competition started 14h; and offcourse after round 1, we knew allready our place!
The first 4 teams were expected there were they have to be!
XL on 1; Fastrax on 2; Airspeed on 3 and The Skypanthers on 4.

We? well, we are trying our very best to stick as close as possible to these teams!
We are losing 1 point on each round on the Skypanthers, but keep in mind, this is a 22-23 point average team, just like the others!
No, we are very happy that we are allready this close in the beginning of the year!
The difference between them and us? They have a faster block start, and they are just a little bit cleaner on ramdoms!
But we have a faster individual flying! And our continuity plan is helping us a lot!
So we know were we have to work on!

Tomorrow, we start with round nr 6!
At 16h we have the pricegiving!
The plan is to go through rounds 6-7-8 with every team, and afterwarts we will go to semi-final and final with the top! It's going to be exciting!
I like it!
--------------------------
The competition is started, 22 teams are present!
Lot's of famous people as well! There will be a live update from Kurt Geabel on his NSL site
For the moment it's 10.50h, we just had a briefing by the tunnel manager!
At 12h we will have our first out of 4 practise rounds; we will use it to adjust our tunnel speed, and to train our exits for building the first point!
The competition works like this:
From the moment the first persons walks through the door, a timer will go of, we have 35 sec to make as much points as can be!

The actual competition for 4way will start at 14h local time (-1h time difference with Brussels)
Team present: Fastrax USA; Airspeed USA; Skypanters Russia; Sebastian XL UK; Extremo Italy; 2 teams of Aerokart France;
Airkix (World Champion womens 2006) UK; .... and many many more!
Serious competition if you ask me!

Keep it up
Dave...

Friday 6 April

The 3 day training camp at Indoor Roosendaal is over. Today we leave to Bedford, UK to participate the World Challenge Championship.
I'm hoping for wireless internet over there, so that I can update the website as soon as possible, with results!
Thumbs up!!!!

Dave...

Danny took some pics from the tunnelcamp, you can find them on his personal website.

Saterday 25 March

That's it, training camp at Eloy, USA is over!
We did about 130-140 training jumps and 5-6h of windtunnel here!
The atmosphere and the weather was good, except for yesterday when we had a storm coming over here!

Most of the problems are solved, we changed positions on exits and during blocks on terminal speed!
We did every block and random on A and B slot position and some of them in C!
The level we have right now, is excellent, but will it be enough to mean something in Bedford, UK at the Windtunnel Competition, who knows ;-)

Next thing; we are busy packing all our gear, afterwarts we will go eat something and maybe have a drink! (the Russian 4way team Black Cat arrived here today, and we already have an invitation, to celebrate a birthday; but we don't think that's a good idea hahaha)

Tomorrow in the afternoon, we will go to Phoenix where our flight will depart at 19.30h local time! We will arrive first at London, Heathrow at 13.10h local time!
And our flight to Belgium leaves at 16.20h and lands at Brussels at 18.30h!

What is the schedule for the next couple of days,
We have a meeting on Wednesday, and the week after we will train 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) in the windtunnel at Roosendaal for the World Challenge Competition!

Thank you all for watching this site during our camp here,
If you need more info don't hesitate to mail me David@skydivehayabusa.com

greetz and later ...
Dave

pics from the tunnel

Sleep tight....
------------------------------------------

After having yesterday another fabulous day, today was a little less.
We stopped jumping at noon, because of light rain and sandstormes.
In our last jump, at drop altitude the pilot gave "green light", but was flying straight into "clouds", everybody wanted to climb outside to build an Canadian T exit,
but at the moment when Danny was already on his cameraposition, the pilot gave a "red light" (meaning; NO JUMPING unless already climbed outside).
Luc, Roy and me were still inside, and we yelled at Shorty to climbe back inside, but Danny was already on his position grip and he was yelling;
"Com'on guys, climb outside so that we can jump"; but we were already laughing our ass off because of the funny picture hahahaha,
CLIMB BACK INSIDE, DANNY; hahahaha
and instead of getting back inside, he jumped off, ALONE! (the old geezer)
Anyway, if it's not funny, you've should have been there :-)
Tonight, 1h30m of tunnel, and tomorrow a day off!

Enjoy Danny's beautiful pics of today's jumps (exept the last one);-)

Monday 19 March

We cancelled our day off today for an extra day of training. We did 8 jumps before going to the tunnel.
Look at the latest pics from Danny at his site

See you tomorrow

Dave .... going to sleep, greetzzzzz from the team

Sunday 18 March

First day-off.
Yesterday we did a draw with already some nice scores. The dives are not yet 100% but we feel that the improvements are getting better and that the results
will come automatically with the amount of jumps!
We still have troubles with different timing and different directions ;-)
We did 8 jumps!
Yesterday evening Shorty, Jeroen, So and Me went to Phoenix to see a movie at the theater. We saw the movie "The 300", a story about spartans in the days of the ancient greeks :-)

Today we have a complete rest day, because the last couple of days were very intense. Injuries, tunnel, hot weather, ...
Tomorrow we will tunnel at 15.30h and we will share our time with the Frech Military team and with So and Jeroen!

Temperature of the day at noon: 31°C
Starting from Tuesday the forecast is 21°-22°C with a partly clouded sky.

Dave is out.... enjoying the last few days of SUN!!!

Friday 16 March

Yesterday we had a day off, some of us went shopping (again) and the rest stayed at the dz.
Nothing much happend,

Today we started training again, with Luc, his shoulder is doing better, we are still not training on our highest speed, but that is just to spare him a litte bit.
Tomorrow or the day after, back on HayaBusa Defence speed ;-)
We just finished our training, we did 12 jumps, this evening we have tunnel time! The jumps went very good, very good discipline, good view, clean flying,...!

The weather is so f***ng hot, it's over 36°C in the shade and even more when you are walking in the sun!

The Belgian delegation is growing as well, today some fellow belgians arrived to train here; freefly: Laurent, Mike, Vero, Blokki and Arnaud!

Keep it up
Dave is out to the pool...
